Rat Infestation Warnings – Rat Control Specialists

As council tips remain closed and the hot weather approaching people are being warned about potential rat infestations and a rat epidemic.

A point we always make when it comes to rat control is prevention is better than cure.

Rats like cover which protects them from predators. They also like to follow the contours of a wall or building, so if you have undergrowth next to your house, or a garden wall, you have create an environment where rats can flourish.

Rats are attracted by the smell of rubbish, other animals and their food so you should take care when feeding your pets, or, if you feed wild birds and have bird table.

You should also be very careful when you discard rubbish in your bins ensuring that they are closed securely and that rats cannot get into them.

Rats need three things to survive: water, food, cover.

Your garden will probably provide all of these to any rat in the area. It is therefore important that you keep these to a minimum. Additionally composting provides a warm place for rats to live and a supply of food in the winter.

Rats and Rubbish Whilst Tips are Closed

If you are stockpiling rubbish whilst the tips are closed try to limit it as much as possible, store away as tidily as possible in sealed rubbish bags or container and remember with rats “prevention is better than cure” – contact us on the 1st hint that you may have rats before they become a real problem.
